Ramadan this year has undoubtedly been a different experience as the Covid-19 pandemic has created a truly unprecedented situation which affects us all in one way or another. Nonetheless, we are blessed to observe another month of Ramadan.
Every year, my family does our best to allocate funds to send back home to Hyderabad, India. These funds solely help the families in Hyderabad that struggle with necessities such as food and basic medical supplies. However, this year, more help is needed.
Why Hyderabad, India? An estimated monthly income on the lower-end is equivalent to $50-100 USD—keep in mind that an average dinner for a family at a local restaurant in Hyderabad can cost around $5 USD. This coupled with other higher than usual costs of living make it hard for families to afford the basics and quite honestly, there are people dying from the lack of food during this time. My family in Hyderabad has been working diligently for the past 18 days to provide meal kits for the thousands of community members struggling to find food after 15 hour fasts; not just for fasting Muslims, but thousands of individuals facing hardship during this time.
I pray for all those being effected during these times but I also recognize that I can utilize my resources to get help to as many people as I can. Which is why I started this Go Fund Me. The money you donate will be going straight to prepping rations and meal kits for families. These kits are hand prepped by my own family in India. One kit is enough to last a family of 5 for an entire day of eating. To keep an account of transparency, Photos, videos, and receipts can be provided.
