Pet Patrol is a volunteer-run, non-profit cat rescue organization in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Hi… my name is Butters.
I’m still just a kitten, but my life has been really hard so far. I grew up in a big, crowded barn with lots of sick cats, and my eyes hurt every single day. My right eye was the worst — it felt tight and pulled down, and I couldn’t open it all the way. I kept bumping into things on that side because I couldn’t see properly, but I didn’t know why.
When Pet Patrol rescued me, the vet said something had “grown together” on my eye — tissue from my top and bottom eyelid had stuck to each other, like they were glued. That’s why I couldn’t see sideways and why it hurt so much. They can fix it in surgery, but I am a bit scared because it is my eye… and I’m just little.
The vet also told Pet Patrol something else: because my upper respiratory infection wasn’t treated at the farm, the inside part of my nose — my sinuses — are damaged and the terbinate cartilage has been destroyed. So now I sneeze a little more than the average kitty and sometimes there is a discharge. It’s a permanent condition but I’m lucky I’m so cute.
Pet Patrol saved me, but my surgery and care cost a lot, and they really need help.
Will you help me keep healing so I can grow up happy and loved?
With hopeful chirps,
Butters
