A former college classmate of mine is in dire straights. Despite looking for work for many months, she and her son are about to be evicted. In addition to that, the car broke down with no money to repair it and all of their belongings are in storage, but they cannot afford to pay the storage rent.
Elizabeth Lerfald Cabell is completely broke and despite being educated, at her age of 53, finding work has been very difficult. Imagine being turned away for a burger cashier job that you desperately need, while still trying to compete for a job you are qualified for, but not being selected over and over again, potentially because of your age. She is becoming part of a group of Americans who, despite all of their hard work, have circumstances occur that force them to become homeless.
If that were not enough, she has back due child support due which, because she has been unable to pay anything toward that amount, the judge may decide to put her in jail very soon.
She has started to talk about how she would be better off dead and I cannot bear for this to happen. If I had the money, I would give it to her, but being in a similar boat as an older student and single parent, I am unable to help, except in this way. I'm also hoping that my small donation will begin to make a difference and I'm hoping that if more people gave the same small amount, it could add up to be enough to help her.
Please help my friend by donating any small amount towards an ultimate goal of $17,500. This is estimated to pay: storage fees of $2,125, a car repair of $687, the back due rent of extended stay hotel where she is currently living $6,618.60 to settle a custody dispute of $7,894 once and for all.
I told her that there were human angels out there who might see a Go Fund Me page and be compelled to help. So, I'm hoping that some angels on earth can make a small donation to help my friend pay what is past due and get back on her feet.
