Cherishing Time With Mom

Sometimes life throws us curve balls, but we swing anyway and hope for the best!! Life surely threw Mom and me a couple of those lately! My name is Jodie Monts and this is my Mom Oleta Monts in the picture with me. I am a flight attendant and last September I became very ill, was hospitalized for a few days in Florida away from home and diagnosed with a severe case of diverticulitis. I was completely surprised by this and was told I would have to have part of my colon removed. With plans to do this I returned to work only to find myself back in the hospital again just a few weeks later for a week even worse than before. I had the surgery and recovered well, though I missed quite a bit of time from work. When I returned home to my mother, she fell ill and was diagnosed with colon cancer. I was fortunate to have flight benefits to fly her to my surgeon and her prognosis is good. She still has some healing and therapy and radiation to complete but all of this has been done with me unable to return to work. This has put a huge financial strain on us both for her medical expenses as well as mine and our everyday living, as my income has been completely suspended until I return to flying and her income is fixed and is Social Security Benefits only. If there is anything that anyone can do to help us during this time of need, we certainly do appreciate and graciously thank you. Any small amount will help.
