Help With Graduate School

Donation protected

I am an MFA student in the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA).

I'm also a working parent and a first generation college student, meaning I'm the first person in my immediate family to attend college yet alone finish a degree and attend graduate school.

So far I've been able to pay for college through a combination of grants, scholarships, subsidized student loans, and working.

I am asking for your support, so that I can avoid taking out predatory unsubsidized private loans this semester.

As an undergraduate student, I was my college English Department's Laureate and I graduated with a 3.65 GPA.

As a graduate student I am maintaining a similarly high GPA. My focus is writing creative non-fiction and fiction which engage in themes of trauma, resistance, and resiliency. I write with humor about tough subjects, blurring the lines between traditional genre fiction and what the great Ursula K. LeGuin referred to as the, "so called realism."

Your support will enable my family to continue prioritizing my education goals.

Specifically your donations will go towards three things...

1. Paying a remaining balance I owe PNCA for this semester (this must be paid before I can register for winter semester).

2. Paying for books and other materials. A required component of each semester is to read twenty to thirty books. Your support will enable me to purchase books that I am unable to acquire through the college library system.

3. Any remaining funds will go toward paying for meals, transportation expenses, and childcare during my week long winter residency.

I understand the holidays are upon us and that everyone has expenses this time of year. I will be incredibly grateful for any support you can give at this time.

To say thank you for your support I will do the following:

Everyone who donates will receive their name in the acknowledgment section of the collection of essays and short stories I am currently working on.

Donate twenty five dollars or more, I will share a  digital collection of work generated during the winter semester with you.

Donate fifty dollars or more and receive the same collection of work in physical form as a  hand-bound chapbook, with a personal note of thanks.

Donate over a hundred dollars and recieve everything mentioned above, plus my eternal gratitude, and a promise to never write anything negative about you.
