Doug Toth's Medical Fund

Friends, family and all:

Approximately 9 years ago at the age of 46, my dad suffered from a heart attack. We were blessed that my dad survived the initial attack, however 3 years after, he had another surgery to remove blockage in his arteries. Since then, we have learned a lot about Doug's condition. Through testing and speaking with various doctors, we have learned that Doug suffers from heart disease and his ascending aorta has been growing at an abnormal rate.  Doctors from Michigan referred Doug to the Cleveland Heart clinic, where he had recent testing done.  Through testing, it was determined that Doug has an aortic aneurysm and was a candidate for surgery. On Tuesday, August 22, 2017, Dad had a seven-hour surgery to repair his aortic aneurysm.  This surgery was much more extensive than originally anticipated and is relatively new to the medical field.  We are happy to say the surgery was a success and he is now on the lengthy road to recovery.  Our family cannot thank Dr. Rosseli and his team enough at the Cleveland Heart Clinic, we will forever be blessed. The future is undefined for Doug, however, one thing remains; he is the strongest person I have ever known. We are not certain if he will be able to go back to work, which is the toughest pill that Doug may have to swallow.  He is a proud member of the Pipe Fitters Union, Local 636 and all he knows how to do is work.  This may be Doug’s biggest setback, not being able to work again.  With that being said, we are not sure that Doug qualifies for certain medical requirements for retirement, such as disability and social security.  If Doug were writing this, he would tell you, he is not looking for sympathy.  With Doug's uncertain future and the cost of this extensive surgery and the unknown costs of post-surgery, we are asking for help. If nonetheless we appreciate you taking time out of your day to read this and reflect on Doug’s life for a quick minute.  Our family realizes not everyone can donate, however if you can keep him in your thoughts and prayers that would go a long way.  We are not sure what the final costs of this surgery will be and do not want to put a cap on the goal of this go fund me account.  Doug has a long road ahead and any donation would be greatly appreciated.  Again thank you for your time and God bless anyone who reads this.

With love,
