July of 2020 my family embarked on a journey of faith from Texas to Kansas, our dream of starting a business has finally come to be a reality and in a hard year. Life quickly put its brakes on our joy in August of 2020 when my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, first diagnoses was Stage 0. We started making arrangements for a mastectomy, but her next scan started the longest journey of our life. It showed possible more cancer cells, after 6 more biopsies she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. Now this is only two weeks after her first diagnoses, and opened our eyes to a different world. While waiting to get a treatment plan, my wife started complaining about back pain, this brought on a Pet scan, and our worst fears were confirmed. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, it had already spread to her neck, back, hip and lymph nodes under both arms. In three weeks, our world seemed to stop, we have two younger kids at home that we’re still not sure how to tell the seriousness of this. After 24 years of being married to my best friend, it’s hard to believe she’s being taken away from our family. We’re blessed each day to wake up to each other and share our lives together. With starting a small company we left behind jobs that had health insurance and now find ourselves looking at over $107,000 in medical bills and they continue to rise quickly.
