My nephew Wyatt was born just over 2 short years ago and the joy and love he has brought to his family and all those who surround him has been immeasurable.  He has battled and won numerous times and is in the midst of another fight.  Please read the below and contribute if you can.  Thank You!

Wyatt's mom Donna has been a dedicated employee of Middlesex County for over 18 years.  Two years ago against all odds she gave birth to the 3rd love of her life Wyatt Roger.  Wyatt has had a long hard road with multiple surgeries and extended hospital stays.

Recently,  following an admission for status dystonicus, Wyatt went into Cardiac Arrest due to toxicity as a result of the multiple medications administered in an effort to break his dystonia.   He remains hospitalized in a worse condition then upon entering 5 weeks ago.  In that time he has had multiple brain surgeries and continuous pain medication adjustments.  His mother Donna petitioned to use donated sick leave (from her co-workers) which she had previously used when Wyatt was born. Unfortunately, the county blindly denied her the time due to a clause that left it up to the head of the department and an opinion that thought it was only to be used once in a career.

What they don't realize is that Wyatt is in a crisis situation and fighting for his life. Denying the donated sick time, denies her to the right of her medical benefits which have been mostly covered for Wyatt.  Her federally guaranteed FMLA will run out in November and she will be forced to find a way to pay $1800 a month for gap insurance (COBRA) while still providing for her other two children at home.

The easy solution would be for her employer to make an exception for her cause and allow her to use the donated time her co-workers would readily give to her as they did when Wyatt was born to allow her to stay with him at the hospital.

Please help us support her cause so that Donna and her family do not have to worry about how to pay for Wyatt's medical bills and can focus on caring for their son, grandson, nephew, brother etc.   Donna is an incredibly strong caring mother, friend, sister, wife, and won't ever ask for help herself.    Her friends, family, co-workers and associates know her struggle and know we can help and are asking you to help also.  Our hope is that this will not only benefit Donna and baby Wyatt but possibly change the county policy in extreme cases such as this when life or death is uncertain.
