As family and friends of Kenny, Jayme, their young daughter and their newborn son Wyatt, this fund is established to assist this young family with the enormous medical bills they are facing for Wyatt’s recovery from emergency surgery and medical care.
Wyatt was born on July 27th in Houma, LA. His doctors quickly discovered he had a severe heart defect called TAPVR, Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return that unfortunately, was not detected by ultrasound during gestation. What this means is the veins that come from his lungs with the oxygenated blood should connect to the left atrium in his heart. In Wyatt's case, the veins connected differently not allowing oxygenated blood to be dispensed to his blood stream and in his body. Thus, causing very low oxygen levels. His condition put extra work on the other parts of his heart. To correct this defect, he was transferred to Ochsner Main by ambulance, then again by rescue flight to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston for surgery all in a span of less than 36 hours. Wyatt underwent open heart surgery to repair the defect and reconnect his pulmonary veins to their correct location on his heart . Kenny was able to travel with Wyatt during transport while Jayme recovered in the hospital and was able to join them in Houston shortly after Wyatt was taken to the OR. This baby boy has pulled through with amazing strength! It will however, be a slow recovery process considering the size of his left atrium and his underdeveloped lungs.
With any unexpected medical emergency, the return to work during such a joyous time will now be a bit longer as Wyatt recovers and ultimately is released home. While they are in Houston, lodging, travel, food, gas, parking and tolls are an added expense. This on top of the astounding medical bills this family is incurring daily for Wyatt’s excellent care in the Intensive Care Unit at Children’s. They have endured much in the last few days and the weight of finances can be consuming. As a close-knit family and very dear friends, we bond together asking for your financial assistance. If can contribute but only $1.00, it is certainly and deeply appreciated or as much as you would like to donate. This hard working, God loving family are already grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have and are eternally grateful for your generosity! Understandably, times are hard for everyone.
