Service Dog

Donation protected
My name is Samuel and I am in need of help to obtain a service dog. I suffer from seizures, fibromyalgia, have hydrocephalus, sleep apnea, and I lose the feeling of my legs. Due to such, I rely on my walker, my wheelchair, my helmet and my life alert necklace heavily.  I was born at 28 weeks weighing 2lbs 8oz.  This caused various complications including difficulty breathing and eating. My mom said I spent 2 months connected to a ventilator and countless surgeries due to the hydrocephalus (which was officially diagnosed 3days postpartum). My parents were told that if I made it past 5 years old, it would be a miracle. Fast forwarding to 2 years old, I used braces to help me walk and also began to receive speech and physical therapy. I was also placed in special needs school until I was able to attend public school in L.A County. I was in I.E.P (individualized education program) all throughout my schooling which caused a lot of bulling and having to wear a helmet definitely never helped my case. Once I finally graduated, I was able to obtain my license after so many tries only to lose it a few weeks after due to my first grand mal seizure (little did I know that was the beginning of many more to come).  Slowly, I starting losing feelings of my legs, then later diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My case worker had previously suggested a service dog but due to financial reasons we had never been able to obtain it. My most recent seizure last month,  raised more of a concern since it happened after having a Ventriculoatrial shunt placed due to pain my old shunt was caused my liver. This seizure was a lot worse than normal as to why we have been urged to obtain a service dog to assist me. Even though I live with my parents, it is hard for my mom to keep track my 83 year old grandmother and myself at the same time. If she’s downstairs helping my grandmother, she may not hear me fall or have a seizure ... we believe the service dog and it’s training will be able to help me during the rest of my life as I continue to deteriorate. We will be working with Compass Key to obtain the service companion and have been advised that the approximate total cost will be $7,000. If you could please help me obtain this companion, it would help me tremendously and also my family especially with Corona causing financial  strain on every one. No donation is too small andI thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help whether it’s monetary or by sharing my story.

Thank you again.
