New Horizons Youth Travel Club is a program offered by Walk With Me CIC designed to help low-income and/or minority youth experience life and explore opportunities beyond their communities. Since, 2004, this travel club has been dedicated to helping young people expand their understanding and increase their tolerance for other cultures and ethnicities while broadening their conception of what opportunities await beyond what life may have to offer them now.
Travel club trips are designed to provide these youth with the opportunity to engage in cultural, recreational, and educational activities that otherwise would be unavailable to them.
From January 19-22, a selected group of youth will travel to Washington DC for the "2013 Moment In History" experience, where they will visit Georgetown University, Howard University, Washington Monument, Smithsonian Institute Museums, National Zoo, and more. While visiting, youth will also have the opportunity to participate in the inauguration activities as history once again reaches another milestone and President Obama is sworn in for his second term.
The youth selected for this trip have a number of fundraising activities underway, but still have a way to go. So, we need your help!
