Jess's Journey

When we look back on our lives, there are some who will say, "Oh...if only I had not done that I would be so much happier."  Then, there are those who look back at every memory, both good and bad and say, "I am so thankful for every experience because it made me who I am today."

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I believe that life is a journey that is filled with many paths that we can choose to take, however, sometimes our paths are chosen for us.

Jessica Cravy's path took a huge turn in 2015 when she was diagnosed with colon cancer.  She underwent surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy only to be told that the cancer had spread to her liver and abdomen.  She subjected her body to more chemotherapy ultimately to hear that the tumors were still growing.  She then decided alternate therapies such as ultra-nutrition, juicing, herbal remedies, and natural oils would might possibly be the answer after reading about amazing results some had achieved.

In April 2018, her pain finally became unbearable and she was taken to the hospital.  We were told that it was absolutely amazing that she had persevered so long.  It was here we found out that the cancer was in multiple areas too numerous to name all.  (liver, lungs, colon, the lining of her colon, and in multiple lymph nodes through her body) Hospice care seemed to be the correct answer when faced with such overwhelming odds.  While Jessica, accepted hospice, her indomitable spirit remained stoic.  Her message was clear to all, "I am a fighter, I believe in miracles and I won't give up!!"

This strength is innate in Jessica.  It is just part of who she is.  Jessica has many titles connected to her name.  Each she carries proudly and with strong conviction.  First, she is Jessica, born on January 3rd in 1987.  Jessica has always been the champion of those that are bullied and downtrodden.  Even as a child, when others would make fun of someone "different" Jessica was not afraid to stand against the others by the side of the victim.  That's who she is.  Jessica is a huge sports fan.  She played volleyball, basketball and baseball.  To this day she has her favorite teams (GO ASTROS, COWBOYS and ROCKETS!).  She is the much loved "daughter" of Jerry and Julie Cravy and their hearts break to see her pain. She still addresses her parent and those elder to her as Ma'am and Sir.  RESPECT.  She is "MOTHER" to Kenzi, who is much loved.  Kenzi, who is 10 years old is already in student council, plays volleyball, saves her money to buy gifts for others, and is an unselfish, respectful child who dearly loves her mother.  She bought her a pair of CONVERSE tennis shoes for her mother for Christmas last year with her money she earned doing odd jobs.  They have a very close loving relationship.  Last, Jessica is a "FRIEND".  Jessica is outgoing, fun-loving, easy to laugh, but most important, loyal.  She still has many of the same friends that she went to school with.

There are many other titles that Jessica has had in her lifetime, but just as paths change, some titles are meant to be let go in the right time.

Jessica is currently in Inpatient hospice and the "Dream Foundation" has chosen to bless Jessica and Kenzi with a trip to DisneyWorld.  While DREAM will pay for the actual expense of the hotel and park(1 day park pass), they won't pay for food, transportation, "extras", nor anyone else to go with her.  Her increased weakness and medical issues necessitates that other family members go with her to care for her and Kenzi.

Jessica also has been unable to get her Chevy Traverse out of the shop after her engine blew several months ago.  The estimate the shop gave was approximately $9,700.00.  Since the vehicle is not paid off, this is in addition to the regular payments and insurance.

Over the course of Jessica's journey, there have been many friends and family members who have asked to help.  Up until now, the family has been able to carry the extra load.  We are reaching out now for assistance to help decrease Jessica's financial burden, help with medical expenses as she was left with no insurance after her divorce and to help create a beautiful memory at DisneyWorld for both Jessica and Kenzi.

Our family is standing together and walking with Jessica every step of the way down this path she is traveling. I hope you will join us on this path today with your support.  Any support within your capacity to give is SO very much appreciated, be it with prayers, monetary gifts, words of encouragement, a poem, a song shared, a bible scripture or in whatever means you are able.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page and may God Bless You abundantly for your kindness and help.
