2 Month Old Mia Sky's Health Issue
On on 6/21/2017 I gave birth to twin girls Mya & Mia Sky and on 7/25/17 Mia Sky had to get heart surgery. Following her surgery she had a few complications and has been in and out of Columbia University Hospital. This had made me take a unpaid personal leave from work since I wasn't employed long enough for FMLA. She was last released two weeks ago after being admitted for fluid covering her whole left side of her lung, fluid around the heart and a collapsed lung. Today we went for a follow up appt and I recieved the news our insurance was terminated since I took a leave and wasn't informed insurance would terminate 8/30/17. The doctors need to follow up on her care in order for her to live a happy & healthy life. If I get COBRA until I return to work it will be $600 a mth. Columbia has been following my daughter since birth and does not take NJ medicaid. I already have $5000 in bills and now no income so the COBRA is unafforable for the next couple of months until I return to work.
