Help India with Oxygen Concentrators

Donation protected
Hi. As you know, India is in severe crisis. COVID is running rampant, and the health care system is being overwhelmed. This is not necessarily just a question of resources, but also DELIVERY of resources to the needed places.

There's also a significant story around the lack of oxygen getting to patients who could benefit.

We in the USA are looking for tangible ways to help, not just blindly sending equipment or money, but making sure we actually are helping in a way that will make a difference in the short-term and the medium-term, saving lives.

We are supporting a joint effort by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI USA ) and  SEWA  International, a Hindu faith-based, humanitarian, nonprofit service organization, to provide OXYGEN CONCENTRATORS and other needed equipment.

Local volunteers from SEWA are making sure this equipment is going to those who need it most. Please see this Facebook post as an example.

Oxygen Concentrators (OCs) are not a panacea. They are one tool within the broad arsenal we need to get the COVID crisis in India under control.

We think this is a great way to help. Moderate cases of COVID can use OCs, to allow the supply of oxygen CANISTERS (pure oxygen tanks) to be used for those with the greatest need. And these OCs can be used by more than one patient - once someone with a moderate case has recovered, the OC can be passed on to the next patient.

These will not be handed out randomly – there are medical professionals overseeing the distribution so healthcare providers in controlled settings can used them correctly, and most effectively.

Because we've set a family goal to raise $10,000, we ask that you give here and then we will pass 101% (you read that right, the extra 1% is for good luck!) of what we raise on. If you'd prefer, though, you are welcome to give directly at AAPI or SEWA's site.

Once we achieve the goal of raising enough to purchase 20 OCs, additional contributions will be passed on, again at 101%, to KOJAIN to help support additional needs in Sachin's ancestral homeland of Kutchh.

Because the need is so urgent, and GFM can take a few days to distribute funds, we ask that you PLEASE give quickly.

If you have any questions, please contact us here, or if you have my number, text me! Thanks!
