If you know us personally, you've met and heard countless stories about Charlie. Jake rescued Charlie last February as his companion animal. During that time Charlie was the only thing that made him feel like he had a friend. In the year and a half since, Charlie has blossomed from a quiet shy shelter dog, to an energetic(at times) loving and sweet hearted dog that loves meeting new people and dogs.
If you know Charlie, you know his spirit and perpetual smile.
Recently, after an awkward jump out of our parked car, Charlie fractured one of his hind leg's weight-baring toes. We immediately took him to the vet, where we were told that he needed to have a splint be put on and come back in a few weeks.
Fast forward a few weeks to around when it was time to take him in, and we notice a sore has formed above his bandage. We then immediately rushed to an emergency vet clinic.
They informed us that Charlie's bandage should have been changed every 48 hours, and that our previous vet had done us and Charlie a major disservice in their lack of advice.
We now know that Charlie needs to have a minimum of 2 toes removed from his hind leg, with a likely third toe to follow. They also informed us of the possibility of his entire leg needing to be amputated if his condition doesn't improve.
Charlie does not deserve the pain he is going through. We love Charlie and would do anything for him and we've opted to avoid having his leg taken, for now, in an attempt to give him the most comfortable and long life.
We are independent people that don't like asking for money, but Charlie means the world to us and we want to give him the best care he can get. Favors, art, hugs, anything you may want we will do something for you in return for anything you give.
