We are chartering a bus to take students from multiple West Virginia counties to D.C. for the "March for Our Lives" on Saturday, March 24th. This is a peaceful event to protest mass shootings and gun violence in our schools. Your donation will go directly to funding our transportation to and from Washington D.C. The funds will be administered through the 501(c)3 West Virginia Healthy Kids and Families Coalition.
This is a short-term fundraiser: We need to fulfill our goal of raising $2,000 by Thursday, March 22nd at the latest!
This is the moment where students nationwide are standing up and demanding a safer school experience and more peace of mind. Every kid's voice is important, and this includes students from West Virginia.
Often, our kids don't get to take part in events like this because of our location and limited resources.
This time is different: We feel it's extremely important for our students to actively participate in a youth-led nationwide movement instead of watching from the sidelines.
In helping us get our kids to D.C. on March 24th, you're not sending them on a field trip: You are giving them the opportunity to feel real power as agents of change who are active leaders in a youth-led movement. This first-hand experience will show them that they can make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.
We'd like to close now with words from the students themselves:
"As young people, we know what it is like to be anxious at school because of gun threats.
We are tired of watching our peers grieve both near and far due to senseless and preventable violence and horror.
We should NOT be afraid to go to school, a concert or church.
We do not want to explain violence and fear to our younger sisters and brothers.
WE ARE THE FUTURE AND WE ARE GOING TO MAKE CHANGE."
