Help Me Build a Free Library for Falling Waters, WV!

Hello everyone, my name is Gnel Galstyan, and I am a 17-year-old exchange student from Armenia, currently living in Falling Waters, West Virginia, as part of the FLEX program. I am placed in the U.S. through PAX (Program of Academic Exchange), which encourages students like me to take part in community service projects.

As a PAX-sponsored student, I am responsible for organizing a Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) Project, and I have chosen to build a Little Free Library for my community.

What is a Little Free Library?

A Little Free Library is a small, outdoor book-sharing box where anyone can take a book or leave a book. It promotes literacy, education, and a sense of community by making books easily accessible to everyone, especially those who may not have access to public libraries or new reading materials.

Why This Project Matters

Growing up, I saw firsthand how access to books can change lives. In my home village, books were not always easy to find, and I know that many communities—both in Armenia and here in West Virginia—face similar challenges. By creating a free book exchange, I want to encourage reading, inspire young minds, and make education more accessible to all.

How You Can Help

To bring this idea to life, I need to raise $200 to cover the costs of materials, construction, and initial book donations. Your contribution will go directly toward:

• Building the library structure (wood, paint, weatherproofing)

• Stocking it with books for all ages

• Maintaining and expanding it in the future
