April’s Journey

Hi I’m April, Im 31 years old and I’m a nurse who worked, caring for others and I’m also now a survivor of domestic violence. As a result I have a traumatic brain injury. Although I’m mentally capable , I do have physical disabilities that don’t allow me to do certain things. I can’t walk on my own, I need help to eat and even to use the bathroom. These disabilities are not going to hold me back or define who I am. I’m not sure why I survived but I did and now I want to live my life to the fullest. As much as I would like to be who I was before this, I know this is who i am now. I’m accepting this and moving forward. I’m choosing my destiny. I want to enjoy my time here. I want to talk to others, tell them one time is too many times and it doesn’t end. Getting out will save you, your strong, your beautiful, you are not the problem and you can not fix or change an abuser. Maybe I survived because I was meant to talk about my story. I need 24 hour care for almost everything I do. I’ve been in a nursing home for 2 years now and I want to be out on my own. I have found an apartment that I’ll be moving into in a month and I basically need everything. I would really appreciate any help that you can give.
