PCWC!

Providence County Wrestling Club (PCWC) is centrally located serving both the Central Falls and Pawtucket communities for approximately 7 years with a mission of providing free, positive out-of-school time options and mentorship opportunities for our most marginalized youth. PCWC serves 400+ student-athletes across 8 schools, including elementary, middle, and high schools within Central Falls, Pawtucket and surrounding areas, by offering activities that build self-esteem, develop and sustain a healthy lifestyle, and access learning opportunities through wrestling. It is more than just a wrestling club, PCWC is sometimes the reason why some student-athletes stay and succeed in school.


During the pandemic, PCWC was able to continue to provide students with a safe space and a trustworthy adult, by allowing students to safely use their space in order to get schoolwork done. Some students showed up because of lack of internet, some students showed up because they needed extra help, and some students showed up because they just needed to be in community - even if it was small.


Unfortunately, also during this pandemic, PCWC has found itself in a really difficult situation and is facing potential closure. As we can see, this organization not only provides a safe and reliable space for youth in the out-of-school time, in a community without a community center, but PCWC provides mentorship, coaching, tutoring, competition, and most importantly love. Now it’s our turn to give back. We are asking the community and its leaders to help us continue to impact the youth in Central Falls, Pawtucket and neighboring cities by supporting our fundraising efforts. 


Below, you will find a breakdown of the average program costs that PCWC incurs and never charges a penny for:

 

PCWC Facility Rent/ Utilities: $1,500.00 per month ($18,000.00 annually)
Coaching Professional Development: $5,000.00 (per coach x 5)
Bus/ Transportation: $300.00-$500.00 per trip
Lightweight Wrestling Mat: $8,000.00-$10,000.00  per school/ location
Practice shirts: $30.00 per student-athlete (for 3)
Practice Shorts: $30.00 per student-athlete (for 3)
Wrestling Shoes: $35.00 - $60.00 per student-athlete
USA Wrestling Cards: $40.00 per student-athlete
Teams Uniform: $120.00-$150.00  per student-athlete 
Includes: Compression Shirts, Fight Shorts/Singlets
