SUPPORT THE NEXT GENERATION OF WOMEN!
Malawi has one of the worlds highest rates of child marriage and teen pregnancy. The Women Together Girls Growing Together program provides mentorship, peer-support, education, vocational training and care, to keep primary and secondary-level girls in school, develop their economic independence, and set them up for an empowered life.
Vocational skills are essential for girls who are leaving school either because they successfully graduated or because they dropped out due to marriage, pregnancy, or lack of support. The economic independence provided by an income-generating skill allows these girls to avoid abusive relationships, care adequately for themselves and their children, contribute to their community and the women around them, and save for their future.
Our training center currently consists of 3 sewing machines and a baking oven located in the home of a local teacher.
In 2022 our goal is to purchase land and build the first official GGT Vocational Skills Center which will include a Sewing Lab, Bakery, Digital Literacy Lab, Mechanics Workshop, and a solar farm to provide power and revenue to cover ongoing expenses and programs.
