Joel's Road to Recovery

Joel Eugene Bergman, 28 years young, is currently fighting for his life in the ICU. He needs all the support he can get. On Monday morning, July 16th at 4:00 a.m., a family member Joey Ellen, was abruptly woken from his sleep to Joel choking and gasping for air. Joey proceeded to call Joel’s father Ronald Bergman and Joel’s fiancée Amanda to come over and assist with resuscitation until the paramedics could get there. Joel was rushed to the emergency room where they were able to intubate him and get him to a stable condition. These last few days have been extremely difficult for family and close friends. Joel is currently in a coma and is receiving dialysis due to his kidneys not functioning on their own. His brain has suffered severely due to him not having oxygen for an unknown amount of time. The doctors are doing everything in their power to assist Joel coming back to us. They have been extremely willing to answer any of our questions.
Joel is the sole provider to his beautiful fiancée Amanda and their two boys, Kolter that is 3.5 years of age and Kenneth that will be one-year old July 23rd. Joel has been driving a semitruck from Hermiston, OR to many various states to support his family. Joel has a very loving mother, Polly and a very caring father, Ronald, along with his eldest brother Devin, younger sister Jessica, and his youngest sister Rebeccah. Joel's family has been by his side, sharing memories and planning for the memories they will still make. Joel is a strong man that has a lot to live for. He enjoys spending time in the great outdoors and as a family every year they hunt for deer, elk, bear, and cougar. This has been a family tradition ever since he was born. Joel has a passion for hunting and fishing and he is happiest when he is able to be out doing what he loves. Joel is always willing to help others; he goes above and beyond to lend a hand. We are asking that in this time of need, anything helps. He will have an abundance of medical bills when he wakes up. Amanda is currently getting help from Joel’s mother and father with expenses.
