<div>A few months ago, Maria began to suffer from severe health problems. After several medical tests, including a special scan called a cholangio-MRI, doctors discovered a cyst in the head of her pancreas measuring 10 mm. It’s in direct contact with the main pancreatic duct, and the specialists have diagnosed it as a branch-duct intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN).

<div>This condition is extremely dangerous because, without immediate surgery, it has a very high chance of turning into pancreatic cancer — one of the most aggressive and deadly forms of cancer. Her doctors have been very clear: time is critical.

<div>The surgery she needs is complex and urgent. It will cost approximately $12,000 USD, a sum far beyond what her or her family can afford. Without this operation, her chances of developing pancreatic cancer are extremely high.

<div>She has dedicated her life to her children, and her home. Now, she finds herself in the most difficult battle she has ever faced. She wants to continue being here for her family, to see her grandchildren grow, and to share many more moments with the people she loves.
