Pigeon Racing 700 Bird Training Trailer

"West of Scotland Championship Club", this is our small pigeon organisation based in North Ayrshire on the West coast of Scotland and currently we have 10 members in our club who are keen and are striving to keep the sport of racing pigeons alive, as it is fast becoming an expensive and declining sport. The age group of our current membership is between 50 years old to 75 years old and we are encouraging more youngsters to join our club, to give them the opportunity to learn about the sport and teach them how to look after racing pigeons and likewise for them to educate us, older generation and introduce to the club, new smart technology, the advancements in the sport of racing pigeons.

After a successful year with starting out with my small van in 2019 and my hand made trailer, then being further encouraged last year to expand the club, we find we are now in need of a more professional lightweight, larger racing / training trailer to support our growing membership, one that will allow us to ferry our pigeons to the bigger transporters that are situated out of our local area and that will allow us to train and race our birds, to give the members some enjoyment during the week, racing their birds from short flights of up to 50 miles.

We are keen to encourage and develop our pigeon sport for the wider community and to give the many old and young pigeon fanciers that community spirit and family relationship that comes with the sport. This gives the older members a purpose in life, as it helps them to have a need to get up in the morning, particularly during these difficult times.

With encouraging the younger generation into the sport, it has become necessary in this modern world for us to invest in new smart electronic pigeon timing systems and equipment that can communicate to our mobile phones and give instant on-line pigeon racing results. This equipment also allows the older fanciers who are more frail or disabled to continue and still enjoy their sport and keeps them active and interested. Our investment for the electronic equipment for the club, trailer and the fanciers lofts together with the purchase of the small training trailer will exceed £20K.

Our club unfortunately will only have a token amount of funds available from its annual membership, which when is up and running again in 2021 will just keep the club running for the seasons racing. It is impossible for us to support such a large investment without some form of financial support. We are seeking some assistance from our local council, but grants are very scare at present, so we have been advised to start a crowdfunding campaign, an appeal for financial support from the general public to help with our project funding.

If you can, your generous donation would be greatly appreciated in helping us to invest for the future of our club. Our aim for this season 2021 and during these difficult times is to grow the club membership and to help the older local pigeon men to continue in the sport and likewise to encourage the younger new fancier into the sport, where they can advance the club in technology and equipment for its future existence.
