Help Chris fight Brain Cancer

January 11, 2015 is the day I will never forget.  I had just met Chris over 1 year ago. Things were moving fast for us. We found love before we knew it. We moved in together and before I knew it, started talking about our future. Then came that awful day. Chris had been getting very bad headaches for about 2 weeks. Then kept saying his balance was off. He got very sick Jan. 9th, throwing up and basically slept all day. The next day we thought by drinking lots of fluids and resting, he be back to normal. Then came Sunday. Chris looked at me and said take me to the ER. They ran lots of tests and we just really thought or hoped, he had the flu. Then doctor ordered a Mri. The next time the doctor came to the room, our lives were changed forever. The doctor looked at Chris and said... You have a tumor on your brain and need to get to hospital right away. This was the first time I saw this strong man cry. Chris was taken to hospital and placed in the ICU. Doctors there took good care of him and we still prayed for the best. He can be fixed and we go home, that was my hopes. Three days later they did a biopsy of his tumor, while he was awake. While family and myself waited for the outcome, in came the doctor. The news was not what anyone wants to hear,  sorry, it's GBM -grade IV brain cancer (Glioblastoma). Because of the location as well, surgery was not an option to try and remove some of the tumor. Not only does this man have to hear the worse news possible, but then told he would never work again. At the young age of 42, he would have to retire. Chris went through 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. Next Mri showed the tumor actually grew and another tumor was showing up. Now the doctors added another drug along with the temodar (chemotherapy). He would do this, one week and then 3 weeks off. After only 2 doses of those meds together, another Mri was done. Finally, good news, the new forming tumor was almost non visible and the big tumor was shrinking. We were feeling so blessed until the next bump in the road. The initial biopsy scar, was not healing correctly. One little spot on his head refused to close up. Now treatment had to stop and a surgery was scheduled. Doctors feared Chris had an infection. So they cut him open and took out the bone under his skull. No infection was found but he must wait 5 weeks before another surgery will be scheduled. They need to put in a titanium mesh now to replace the missing bone that was removed.  All this time chemotherapy has been on hold. A big set back for us. We are hoping after the next surgery, we can get back to the plan and keep shrinking that tumor. Chris has already been through so much in 6 months. The placement of this tumor has effected his left side as well. His balance is off and being left handed, is very frustrating. Trying physically therapy as well, anything to help him get his balance and strength back on that side.
Chris has 2 beautiful daughters. Kaylee who is 19 and attending UWM. And Chloe was is 12, who adores her daddy. I am creating this page to help Chris and his family. As you can imagine, not being able to work, to provide for your family, is very stressful on a man. Chris is a great dad and great fiancé and deserves happiness. He has been placed on disability, but Wisconsin has a five month waiting period before funds will come in and of course, they don't pay as much as he was making. With bills coming in daily and living off one income, it's tough. I want to attend and be by Chris's side as much as possible for his treatments and appointments. That means missing work and loss wages. I want as much stress off this great guy as possible and that is where you can help. Any amount you can give would be greatly appreciated and will be put towards those bills. Along with, as what I like to call... Making memories. Chris should be able to take his girls on trips, to the movies, any place they want to spend time with their Dad, and this will help accomplish that. After all, cancer can try and take a person, but you can't take away memories.
