This week, I was given a great opportunity. One of my pieces, a novel in progress called Lagniappe, was chosen by The Writer's Hotel in NYC. The program works with writers for months to polish their manuscripts before their workshop in June where writers will have a chance to pitch their books to agents and publishers.

The cost is $2.500 to secure a spot in the program. The money pays for the one-on-one work with editors and the June workshop in NYC.

I'd love to go and make my dream come true. Below is a summary of the novel's concept. If you'd like to see this come to this manuscript become a novel, please help me get there!

Lagniappe is a novel in progress about Lola Mae, a 15 year old black girl in 1943 in Shreveport, LA who did something she wasn't supposed to -- fall in love with the son of her mother's white boss, Thomas DuBois.

When the affair is found out, Lola Mae is sent up north to save her and her family from the firestorm. But Lola has a secret no one knows and because of it, she makes a decision that impacts everyone's life.
