Chelsea Nakita ☆ A WARRIOR'S Journey☆

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tess and I ask you to help raise funds for our beautiful little cousin Chelsea. Chelsea is 6 years old and was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of Medulloblastoma (brain cancer).

Approximately 4 weeks ago Chelsea started getting headaches and was vomiting. Mum Danni took her to the doctor who said she needed to rest as it could be migraines. Chelsea would feel better for a little, but the headaches and vomiting kept coming back. Danni then took her to Bacchus Marsh Hospital one night where an MRI was ordered. Driving home from the MRI Danni got a phone call to go straight back to the hospital where Chelsea was then sent urgently to the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).
At the RCH another MRI was performed which revealed some heartbreaking facts. The doctors gave Danni and Matt the devastating news that Chelsea had brain cancer and that the cancer had spread throughout her brain and down her spine. Within 24hrs she had gone from playing with her brothers to having to endure a 6hr surgery to remove the biggest tumour in her brain which was the size of a golf ball. Chelsea is now recovering from surgery and trying to get strong again so that she can begin the next step of her long journey.

Soon Chelsea will begin 6 weeks of aggressive radiation with daily trips to Peter Mac. Because of the aggressive nature of Chelsea's cancer, she will require radiation 5 days per week for 6 weeks, targeting her head and spine. This could lead to her losing her hair, excessive nausea, bladder and bowel problems, fatigue and other side effects. Following this Chelsea will have a 6 week break to let her little body recover and build up some strength before she begins aggressive chemotherapy.

This is why we're asking for your help, so that Danni & Matt can take care of Chelsea and her brothers during this trying, unexpected time in their lives and so that they don’t have to worry about how they are going to make ends meet such as covering the rent, household bills, etc, especially if Matt has to take unpaid leave. The family requires assistance  to help with any out-of-pocket medications and medical expenses, petrol, parking,  care for her brothers and any other general and unforeseen expenses  of which Danny and Matt will find it difficult to raise alone.

Now that you know a bit about Chelsea's journey, here is a little bit about her as she's much more than just her diagnosis.

This year Chelsea is in Grade 1. She loves her teacher Hannah and often draws her pictures and writes her letters. Chelsea and her friends love playing games like hide and seek and going to the school drawing club. Her favourite subject is sports and she loves to run and play ball games like soccer. She likes riding her bike and attempting tricks on her skateboard. Unfortunately, because of her cancer she will not be able to go to school like normal. The doctor has said that she might be able to go every now and again for an hour here and there.

Chelsea loves going to the footy with her Dad and follows the Bombers. They also watch soccer where Matt follows Chelsea Football Club, hence her name!!! She has 2 younger brothers who she looks out for. They love playing dress ups and Chelsea often dresses up as her favourite superhero Batman. Chelsea says 'He's so big and strong and rescues and protects people, just like I like to protect my brothers.

The family had booked their first big holiday to QLD when Chelsea was diagnosed 3 weeks prior to them leaving. She was counting down the days to visit the theme parks, especially Movie World so she could see Batman. Unfortunately the trip has been cancelled as she needs to start treatment ASAP.

Chelsea's goal is to eventually go back and do the things she loves; playing with her family and friends, going back to school, playing soccer and finally going to QLD.

Please help little Chelsea achieve her goals and assist her with the care she needs.  With your kindness and support and the love and support of Chelsea's family and friends, in Chelsea's words "I'M GOING  TO KICK CANCER'S BUTT!!!
Greatly appreciated xxx
