My name is JoAnn Newton and, for the past 30 years, I've had the honor and privilege to help facilitate health and healing in others primarily as a massage therapist.
While this type of physically demanding work takes its toll on the body, I have always practiced excellent self-care (body, mind, & spirit) to keep myself healthy and strong.
However, 5 weeks ago I had a bad fall in my home which resulted in head trauma, spinal misalignment, and muscle tension in my entire back and neck.
Despite faithful daily stretching, a mostly healthy diet (challenging to do when in pain), ice and heat therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, OTC pain medication, and even CBD oil, I continue to experience severe back and neck pain and debilitating headaches - which are brought on mostly by working on massage clients.
After spending ANOTHER two days of being incapacitated by pain this weekend, it has become clear to me that I need to find a way to STOP and give my body time to rest, receive treatment, and heal.
As a self-employed person, I don't have vacation or sick pay and don't qualify for any kind of short term disability. So the only way I can do this is to ask for help - probably the hardest thing in the world for me to do! But I know I can't continue indefinitely like I have been, so here I am asking - and opening up to the possibility.
My goal is to take a month off from working, receive treatment, and purchase a good quality recliner chair (instead of slouching on the couch). I 'd deeply appreciate any and all help to cover the following:
MONTHLY EXPENSES:
Rent - covered by Social Security
Utilities, phone, internet, auto insurance & gas, food, etc. - $1,000
HEALING TREATMENTS:
Chiropractor x4 - $200
Acupuncture x4 - $100
Myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, & energy balancing x4 - $600
Private Yoga Sessions x4 - $300
PAIN RELIEF & SPINAL SUPPORT:
Mac Motion Oslo Collection Recliner - $800
TOTAL: $3,000.
