Largest Key West Fire in Decades @ Helliesen Home

Donation protected
Around 7:30pm on Wednesday, June 29th, Carrie and Doug Helliesen were at White Street Pier for "Yappy Hour" with their dogs, Karma and P-nut.

Little did they know that their Laird Street home of 40+ years had caught fire and was already engulfed in flames. They came home to find the residence ablaze, with all their belongings inside.

Thankfully, both Carrie & Doug are safe and well, along with their dogs and pet turtles!

Unfortunately, the house and all their belongings were lost in the inferno.
Doug's home-based business has also been destroyed.

The incredible Key West community has been eager to provide aid and support. At this point, the Helliesens don't know what they will need.

In response to the overwhelming requests from friends, family, and the local island community, this fundraiser has been created to provide Carrie & Doug with emergency funds to begin rebuilding their lives!
