Current situation in Yemen:
My home country, Yemen, known over millennia as Arabia Felix or the happy land of Arabia is now facing the world's worst humanitarian crisis under the so-called “forgotten war”, with more than 22 million people - three-quarters of the population - in desperate need of aid and protection, according to the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Over 8 million people in the country "do not know where they will obtain their next meal," and "every ten minutes, a child under five dies of preventable causes." The world cannot continue to pay lip-service to this crisis, which is entering its 4th year. Something has to be done. The least we can all do is be aware of what is going on and be critical consumers of information to shape the opinions of the international community.
Campaign Goal:
We have started this campaign to raise money to try and support150 families in Yemen who are suffering from the dire consequences of the ongoing famine, cholera epidemic and hyperinflation. This money will be sent to members of our team on the ground who will provide each family with $100, which would be used to meet basic needs ranging from obtaining clean water and food to getting electricity and shelter. We have compiled a list of these families from our team on the ground and we urge you to notify us of details of specific families which you think are at the brink of collapsing, so we can add it to our future campaigns.
Even though we recognize that this will only support a very small portion of the population, doing something to even help one family is better than remaining idle.
Please remember that even 1 dollar can feed an individual for a day and a share even might do more.
