Imagine living your life without words, beginning today. Unable to say, "I Love You" to your family or to simply order a cup of coffee. Thousands of people are living such lives, having lost their ability to speak with family, friends, and the community due to aphasia. Aphasia affects the ability to speak, understand, read, write, and/or do mathematics. It is caused by strokes, traumatic brain injuries, brain tumors, and brain infections primarily in the left hemisphere. It affects all ages. There are over 1 million people in the USA with aphasia and about 80,000 new cases each year.
OUR CHALLENGE: To raise $6000 toward scholarships for APHASIA GROUP THERAPY for individuals wanting to attend the University of Arizona Clinic for Adult Communication Disorders.
Aphasia Groups provide the opportunity to practice language, make friends, and engage in social activites. However, Aphasia Groups are not covered by insurance so those with a fixed income have no way to attend group sessions without scholarships. Your support will change lives by helping people communicate with their friends, family, and the community!!!
