World Champs fundraiser for Mental Health

Suicide is the leading cause of death among young people. What compounds this confronting statistic, is that stigma makes it harder for those experiencing mental ill-health to reach out for help. I have personally experienced this as both a young person and an athlete. 

This August, I will be competing in Switzerland at the Age Group Triathlon World Championships.

My aim is not to win, but to go out and raise money for batyr, an organisation I work with. batyr is an organisiation in which young people, like myself, go out to schools and universities to conduct programs where we share our lived experiences with mental ill-health. This helps to break down stigma and increase help-seeking. Batyr have been amazing within my recovery journey, giving me support and reminding me of the power of vulnerability. I have had many high school students come up and share that they are willing to go get help after hearing my story, and it gives me purpose to keep sharing my story.

What I ask of you?
It takes just $20 to put one student through a batyr program! I know this may not be affordable for everything, but even if you could just think about giving up a coffee for 1 week, maybe even 2 or 3... Every little bit counts. And if not, I ask if you could share this around. I hope that even by me opening up publicly, that anyone out there struggling may find the strength to tell someone that they are not okay.
