Workshops for Youth and Families  hosts camps to teach youth how to relate to peers and adults, become leaders in the community, resist peer pressure, combat bullying, maintain a strong self esteem, and manage life through fun, interactive programming that everyone loves! Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to attend these summer camps, so our main goal from GoFundMe is to raise money for scholarships and fund camp activities. Each child and teen that wants and needs to benefit from our programs – should be able to. <img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/4196744_1429135260.6782_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /> MISSION: Thirty-six years later, Workshops for Youth and Families has not drifted from its mission to foster personal leadership and resiliency in youth and families through programs that inspire positive growth and change. We Prepare, Prevent, and Mentor IMPACT: Over the last 36 years, Workshops for Youth and Families has helped strengthen Arizona families through innovative educational programs presented to more than 30,000 young people. Workshop provides programs for approximately 1,200 youth each year, all aging from 9 to 19. Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, nearly 75 percent of new participants are referred by local churches, schools, alumni, parents, and social service organizations. One reason why we are referred is for our effective peer to peer mentorship which is the foundation of our unique programs. This style of teaching works because teens tend to relate to and trust someone their age who is there to support and mentor them. Our entire staff help our participants strengthen their confidence and resiliency by helping them cultivate their own moral principles, as well as fostering their own unique leadership potential. It is in these ways that we prepare, prevent, and mentor developing healthy kids.
