Scratch made breakfast, hot omelets, spicy sausage gravy and fluffy biscuits is how The Original Word of Mouth started in the Gulf Gate community of Sarasota, FL in 1996, becoming a local's favorite breakfast and lunch restaurant. In lieu of retirement, Mario & Elena Mazzini saw an opportunity and bought the business ten years ago, starting a whole new chapter in their lives. It became apparent to them very quickly that their family grew in size over night.

Original Word of Mouth and the Gulf gate community became their second home, quickly adopting the whole staff & community as family. Driving its success became their absolute passion.  In 2016, their two children and families joined them taking on yet another new adventure of opening a new location in Venice. Through tears and laughter, devotion and commitment we have been incredibly fortunate to have been able to be able to grow and be a part of the community in numerous ways via fundraising, donations, or simply being there to refill your coffee.

As of March 21, 2020 due to the State of Emergency that Governor DeSantis has issued we have temporarily closed our doors to the public for safety concerns until further notice. We would not have been able to get to where we are if we didn’t have the commitment of our entire team behind us. Many of you personally got to know our Servers, Bussers, Cooks, Chefs, Dishwashers and Hostess, and it was our team whom you became reliant upon for your daily routine.  We are asking everyone whose lives we have become a part of, to consider helping in giving back. 100% off all proceeds, will be equally distributed amongst our team.
