Hi Friends and family, we have some shocking news and could really use your support to get through this difficult time.
As many of you know Woody received a lifesaving liver transplant 9 years ago by his transplant team at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Rochester is 145 miles or 2 hours and 17 minutes away from our home near Utica, NY. While waiting for Woody’s miracle donation to arrive, our entire family was shuttling back and forth and, at times, living in both places. Trying to navigate food, lodging, and all of the complex and top-notch medical treatment was overwhelming. Thankfully, our family and friends were there for us and after spending all of our faith, positivity, love, and resources…we got Woody back!
Fast forward to Thursday 8/30/2018, after experiencing unrelenting abdominal pain for many days and nights on end, Woody went to see his specialist. Scans found a tumor in his Pancreas and on Tuesday 9/11/2018, a formal diagnosis of aggressive Pancreatic Cancer was made. Woody will be starting chemotherapy to try to shrink the tumor and once again traveling to Rochester to consult with his medical team.
We are devastated but remain unwavering in our faith in our family and friends. We will remain strong for Woody!
It is difficult to ask but we could use as much support as we can get. Words cannot express how grateful we would be for your help. Whether it is through financial donation or sharing this GoFundMe page with your social media network, anything you can do is deeply appreciated.
Any donations made will go directly to pay for Woody’s medical bills (despite having medical insurance, only 80% of all treatment costs will be covered by his current insurance). They will also assist in covering transportation and lodging expenses should Woody require treatment or hospitalization in Rochester.
