2/16/16 Update:

WOODSON WARRIORS,
We know most of you have been following Woodson Warriors and Heather's ongoing FIGHT against cancer for some time but of late there has not been a lot of information posted.

It is with overwhelming sadness that we report that the cancer has spread after not responding to treatment and Heather's health has declined rapidly. Her doctor's believe that it is only a matter of weeks that she has left with us. She is no longer seeking any treatment and has been mostly home bound for some time now. Just last week, hospice came to her home to make it and her more comfortable.

We give thanks to God for each new day where she has strength to have some interaction with her family and friends. Heather also has expressed that she would love to be able to celebrate her daughter's Sweet 16 with her in June, but as you all know, her and our days are in His Hands.

Please keep Heather, Kennedy, her family and closest friends in your prayers. We will be in touch when there is change.

We love you all and are thankful for the encouragement and prayers of the faithful, family, friends & supporters! God bless

1 John 5:3-5 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."

HEATHER MARLENE WOODSON...
YOU'RE AN OVERCOMER!

The goal is now to help Kennedy with financial constraints as they arise; therefore, we are going to keep this GoFundMe Account open.

Thanks to all of you for the donations you have given to assist Heather & Kennedy wiht this fight.

WE LOVE YOU, HEATHER!!!
~Tracy

Update on Heather…..it’s been awhile since we have last updated, because things had been going pretty well. However, the past few months, there has been a set-back. She ended up with low platelet counts, so chemo had been put on hold. Most recently, she ended up with a blood clot in the portal vein. Her follow-up appointment at John Hopkins did not result in what we hoped. A spot was detected on the pancreas and the liver. She had a stent put into assist with the blockage/blood clot and will begin oral chemo. This process has resulted in Heather not being able to work. Therefore, insurance and daily living will become a struggle. Please consider giving once again as Heather & Kennedy continue to fight this battle. We have increased our goal by $10,000 to help Heather with finances. Thank you!!!

Heather Woodson (at the age of 40), was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, October 2013. This came about almost two years after other major surgeries to repair a blockage in her Common Bile Duct & removal of her Gallbladder. She sought medical treatment locally.

Heather, born & raised in local Kansas City, gives back to her community. Success in High School Athletics assisted her to provide her wealth of knowledge to student-athletes in Semi-Urban School Districts. She has coached Volleyball, Basketball, and Track. Heather currently teaches High School Social Studies & Psychology, while raising her 14 year old daughter. As a single mother, she is often stretched, but always has a warm smile on her face.

Heather is an avid sports fan, especially the local teams….Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. Along with supporting home town teams, she follows her daughter who is following in her mother’s footsteps of being a strong Student-Athlete in Volleyball, Soccer, and Track.

Approximately a year after beginning chemotherapy, the local doctors were unable to find a treatment that would improve her fight. Heather was told, “we can keep you comfortable and give you time with your daughter.” Heather, along with her family and friends were not satisfied with this prognosis. Heather then sought a second opinion at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD.

Doctors at Johns Hopkins were optimistic. Heather was to continue a Chemotherapy and Vitamin C treatment. In December of 2014, she received a round of intense Radiation for five days. She would then return for a follow-up. At that time, the tumor had not grown, but Doctors wanted one more round of Chemotherapy. Recent follow-up resulted in the news all had been waiting for…..surgery was an option!!!

Heather has not been able to work a full work schedule for the past two years. She currently has requested short-term disability for this next phase of the fight. This has resulted in buying out her insurance for the next 6 months. This, in conjunction with the flights back and forth to Baltimore, housing and food while there, the upkeep of her personal home, and supporting of her family, has tapped finances. Heather will be supported by her family in Baltimore for at least 4 weeks through this next phase of the fight.

Please consider giving what you can to keep the fight going. We are determined to Kick Cancer’s Butt!!!
