WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT Uganda

Dear Friends and Family,
When I was a little girl, a movie was released about an orphaned lion cub in Africa. "Born Free”, a British film, told of the journey of Joy and George Adamson’s raising of the beautiful lioness Elsa to adulthood, and then ultimately releasing her in Kenya. I was enthralled with Africa and knew I had to go -- one day!
For years and years my heart has been “for” Africa and it’s beautiful people. I have been presented with numerous opportunities to go, but until now God has said “not yet.” I always ask and even implore, but I learned to be patient.
In January 2017, in an “only God” way, I met the founder of Hands of Love USA, Anna Latshaw. At a Wholly Women’s conference she led in February, I saw a video she showed about Hands of Love USA’s annual Women’s Empowerment Conference in Uganda.
Well, of course my heart skipped a beat, not only because it was Africa, not only because I also have a deep conviction about bringing ALL women into the fullness of their identity in Christ, due to my own background with abuse, trauma, suicidal ideation and severe depression, but also because it was with a phenomenal organization…Hands of Love USA and Anna Latshaw, who I already knew and loved!
I almost immediately met with Anna, prayed and implored God. And this time, HE SAID YES…GO!
Just a bit more about the amazing conference. The Women’s Empowerment Conference meets for 5 days with 4,000 women attending by foot where we attend to their food and water, physical, emotional, healing, and spiritual needs. This year we will also leave behind a discipleship program for year-long biblical training.
After the conference we will work with 2 orphanages Hands of Love USA supports, one in Kiteezi, and one in Namadhi.
I would ask that you prayerfully consider supporting me. My timeline is short but God’s resources are not. Our trip runs from July 7-21, 2017.
Of course, I would ask that everyone receiving this letter, please pray for the entire team of 6.
