UPDATE 10/10: THANK you to everyone who has donated and shared! Today I was able to contact a friend/community organizer there who has been going to the homes of many women to provide resources and support. They are desperate for the following items which I will be finalizing purchases for before I pack up to go on Friday, the 20th.
These are the biggest needs:
*TARPS- it's still raining and some lost their roofs
*Diapers- not just little baby sized
*Solar powered lights
*food
*water
*mosquito netting
*bug repellant

We are a cooperative of Puerto Rican women seeking to ensure the safety and well being of pregnant women, mothers and children. My sister Vanessa is the founder of Centro MAM- (Mujeres Ayudando Madres- Women helping Mothers). Today, on behalf of mothers and children in Puerto Rico, I create this page with the goal of receiving your support to support women and children.
Puerto Rico is in a dire environmental, health and infrastructure crisis after Hurricane Maria hit 18 days ago. There continue to be many areas out of reach due to downed bridges and roads washed away, potable water is difficult to come by, and fresh food and gasoline are also a challenge access (especially inland).
We are currently looking for donations/purchasing specific items that we can pack and bring directly to as many mothers and children in need as possible. Please consider donating so we can reach more sooner rather than later.
Time is of the essence. Our California team leaves for Puerto Rico in less than 2 weeks and we need everything ready to go as soon as we land for delivery to the most needed and vulnerable areas within and beyond the Centro MAM community. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated.
If you choose to help us we will keep you updated through our social media loop and remind others of your generous service and compassion.
Donations will be used for the following purchases to share with mothers who are in need of basic hygiene supplies and illness prevention.
*Mosquite Nets (to protect from mosquito born illness)
*Bug Repellant
*Sanitary napkins & tampons
*Solar/Battery Powered Lighting : most of the island is expected to be without electricity for months
*Probiotics- to enhance gut flor, prevent illness & support immune system
*Water filtration to ensure clean drinking water
*Diapers
*Baby Wipes
*Soaps
