Women's March Ottawa 2020

Donation protected
On March 7, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., thousands of participants will gather on Parliament Hill. After listening to a welcoming Indigenous drumming ceremony and speeches from advocates and activists, we will march to the steps of Ottawa City Hall, where participants will be welcomed by additional speakers, workshops, community organizations, and vendors.

Grounded in the values of intersectional feminism, Women's March Ottawa is committed to challenging all forms of systemic discrimination, bias, and oppression. We believe fiercely in the inclusion of all women in our movement, including women of colour, Indigenous women, working-class and low-income women, women of all ages, newcomer women, women with disabilities, women of diverse religious backgrounds and ages, and LGBTQ2S+ women. We pursue, unapologetically, a world in which all women can thrive and carry out their lives in the way they choose. For these reasons and more, we're marching again in 2020.

In striving to create events - and ultimately a society - that prioritizes the safety and inclusion of marginalized communities, we don't tolerate -isms or -phobias of any kind. This includes sexism, racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, ageism, colonialism, ableism, classism, homophobia, and transphobia. The pursuit of women's rights cannot be separated from the goals of other social justice movements, and we strive to uplift one another in our actions and words.

Following from this, we believe strongly in the power of allyship and partnership. As a result, we strive to work alongside other community organizations and stakeholders that share our values and goals whenever possible.

Importantly, the work of Women's March Ottawa is grounded in principles of non-violent protest and peaceful civic demonstration.

Finally, we acknowledge that our work takes place on the unceded and unsurrendered land of the Algonquin people. We pay respect to the traditional caretakers of the land, and strive to walk the path of reconciliation and challenge colonialism and its effects in all that we do.

Join us as we march in support of women’s rights. Donate your time by showing up and bringing visibility to our cause. We invite you to contact us to discuss ways that we can work together to heighten awareness of the march and promote participation.

Financial donations are also important to the success of our event. Any proceeds will be used to advance our security, logistics, rental of equipment, accessibility, and printing. This is a  completely volunteer led and run event.

Help us show the world that Ottawa women and men will always fight for and defend women's rights as human rights.
