<div>I am incredibly excited to begin <strong>fundraising again for the Women in STEM, Medicine, and Law Scholarship at Boise State during Women's History Month.</strong> I have a goal of $27,000, because according to the <a href="https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2021/01/women-making-gains-in-stem-occupations-but-still-underrepresented.html#:~:text=Women%25252520Are%25252520Nearly%25252520Half%25252520of,Only%2525252027%25252525%25252520of%25252520STEM%25252520Workers&amp;text=Despite%25252520making%25252520up%25252520nearly%25252520half,and%25252520math%25252520(STEM)%25252520workforce." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">United States Census Bureau</a>, "Women are nearly half the US workforce, but only 27% of STEM workers."

<div>In 2021 I started a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/boise-state-university-scholarship-for-stem-women" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GoFundMe</a> to create a scholarship at Boise State University (BSU) for women pursuing STEM, Medicine, and Law after a<strong> Boise State professor stated that independent women are “medicated, meddlesome and quarrelsome”</strong> and that<strong> “Every effort must be made not to recruit women into engineering, </strong>but rather to recruit and demand more of men who become engineers. Ditto for med school, and the law, and every trade.”

<div><strong>In less than six months, we raised over $200,000</strong> and the newly endowed Women in STEM, Medicine, and Law Scholarship was <a href="https://www.ktvb.com/article/news/local/208/boise-student-receives-first-women-in-stem-medicine-and-law-scholarship-jessica-lambert-ally-orr/277-6634bfa6-dfe1-4ce5-84eb-6a4693920ec1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">awarded to a woman</a> studying engineering at BSU (see image below).

<div>Women deserve to feel safe and empowered in all places, and to have the same opportunities as men. <strong>Let's help increase the percentage of women in all fields</strong>, especially STEM, and continue to support the message that <strong>women belong in all places.</strong>

<div>During my fundraising last year, I had many women personally reach out to me to share their own stories of gender inequality and discrimination. To bring these women’s experiences to the forefront and build a sense of shared community, I will begin the process of writing a book featuring these stories.
