Women in Ranching: Empowering Women's Leadership

Women in Ranching (WinR) is growing a movement to empower women's voices and women’s leadership in agriculture across the West.
WinR provides opportunities for women working on the land to gather, build confidence and leadership skills, and empower them to make big leaps in their personal and professional lives, in our rural communities, and broader social systems.
Today, we are 80+ women strong and growing, with Circles in California, Montana and New Mexico. Over the next five years, our goal is to create Circles in each of the eleven western states.
To date, we have 300 women on our waiting list.
Our goal is to raise $10,000. We need your help to ensure every single woman who can benefit from this program is able to participate in this growing collaborative designed specifically around the needs, talents and skills of western rural women who steward our lands, grow our food, raise the next generation of agriculturalists and steward our natural resources.
Two generous foundations have offered to match our crowdfunder dollar-for-dollar, so if we reach our $10,000 goal, we will have $30,000 total to support this growing movement into 2020. Funds from this campaign will help cover expenses associated with each circle, including professional training with expert facilitators, and create a scholarship pool to ensure women from all walks of life are able to attend.
Our Story
Women in Ranching emerged in direct response to an expressed need: women on working lands throughout the West were seeking ways to authentically connect with one another, to promote leadership and inspire creative solutions for how best to support a growing resource of female leaders and land stewards.
The first Women in Ranching Circle included 26 women from all around western rural America and was generously hosted in 2016 by Paicines Ranch in California. Since then, WinR has held circles in three states and has become a proud program of the Western Landowners Alliance , a West-wide organization advancing policies and practices which sustain working lands, connected landscapes and native species.
Our Circles

As individual Circles of 20-25 women, we convene on host ranches (offered generously at no cost) to learn, grow, build community and find a renewed awareness of inner abundance and resiliency. Circles foster substantive conversation on self-awareness, leadership and regenerative agricultural practices, mixed with hands-on learning and skill development which is culturally and geographically relevant to the host location.
We believe these gatherings activate women to connect and share with each other, strengthening our collective voice for the betterment of our rural communities and agriculture nationwide.
