As a supporter of the cause, I am excited to introduce to you, a project aiming to raise public awareness on Climate Change and a women empowerment tool to educate about the environmental changes that occur on our planet. We may be familiar with the term “climate change” but do we really understand the scope of the problem and how it affects or is going to affect our lives in the future? The polar regions are striking examples of the changes that are already happening around us, which is why Antarctica was chosen as the starting point of this campaign.
The Antarctica Expedition project is organized by AWomanCanBe a non-profit originated from Greece. AWomanCanBe.org empowers women and supports female inclusive initiatives that address the Global Sustainable Development Goals. This project is part of our WomenForNature initiative.
The main goals of Women For Nature initiative are:
- To raise awareness on environmental issues and climate change
- To educate on environmental challenges and ways to contribute to their solution
- To promote a sustainable way of living and foster love for nature
- To connect with people and organizations around the world to design and build a more sustainable future
Women for Nature Climbing for Climate
Vanessa Archontidou, (a mother of two, member of the first Greek female team that climbed Mt Everest in 2019 and EU Climate Pact Ambassador), is ready to climb MtVinson (4892m – Antarctica’s highest summit) and ski to the South Pole to raise awareness on Climate Change. An expedition engaging women in a quest to explore and protect the most fragile ecosystems of our planet.
This funding will contribute to the expedition costs and allow Vanessa to carry the message across the world, that we need to take action, to stop the climate crisis!
The Antarctica expedition, contributes to AWomanVanBe.org mission and climate change campaign by providing footage for the documentary and educational material that is being created, and by getting media coverage for the cause.
