I have set up this GoFundMe page for a dear friend of mine and her son. Both of whom would not ask for help in a time of need, yet would be there for you in yours.
Sharon and Jake were both reluctant to make this issue public, and those of you who know Sharon will know that she does not like the spotlight. But I have seen communities do amazing things with these pages, and I have no doubt that this is a worthy cause.
Jake, a.k.a Wombat, will be undergoing surgery on the 29th of August if he passes pre op requirements (this Tuesday), to remove a tumor located on the mastiod bone in Jakes inner ear. The mastiod bone seperates the middle ear from the brain, and can be eroded by the tumor (cholesteatoma), possibly causing many life changing issues.
The stresses of the unknown are all too much to handle, let alone the financial stress of surgury, accomidation post op and loss of wages for both Jake working two casual jobs, and Sharon as she supports Jake through the recovery process for a minimum of 2 weeks in Melbourne close to hospital. And then the recovery time for Jake while he heals at home.
Every bit helps, and I believe that our community can make this stressful time a little bit easier on a local family.
