At Wofford College, our Morgan’s Message club is dedicated to carrying forward the legacy of Morgan Rodgers, a Duke University lacrosse player who tragically lost her life to suicide in 2019. Morgan’s Message strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health in athletics, normalize conversations about mental well-being, and provide student-athletes with a safe space to feel heard, supported, and empowered.
As student-athletes ourselves, we see firsthand how performance pressures, academics, and life challenges can weigh heavily. Our club gives athletes the chance to come together, break the silence, and advocate for better mental health awareness on campus and beyond. Through Morgan’s Message, we remind one another that it is okay to not be okay, and that no one should ever feel alone in their struggles.
Your generosity will directly help us grow our impact here at Wofford. Donations will support our regular club meetings and workshops, where athletes have a consistent, safe space to share experiences and access resources. They will help us host mental health awareness events across campus that educate the wider community and reduce stigma. They will allow us to strengthen athlete advocacy and outreach, reminding every athlete that they are more than their sport and encouraging them to seek support without fear. They will also help us bring in guest speakers, including mental health professionals, former athletes, and advocates who share their powerful stories. Finally, your donations will support larger campus events for athletes — from awareness games to community gatherings — that build a culture where mental health is valued just as much as physical health.
By giving, you are helping us change the conversation around mental health in sports at Wofford College. Every dollar goes toward building a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate community for student-athletes. Your support not only sustains our club but also ensures that Morgan’s legacy lives on, reminding athletes everywhere that it’s okay to not be okay and that they are never alone.
Thank you for standing with us and helping us make a lasting difference here at Wofford College!
