Let’s make sure that Santa doesn’t forget the children who will be staying with their mums in the Women's Refuge in Galway this Christmas.
The Refuge is for women, and their children, who need emergency accommodation due to domestic violence.
The funds generated through this GoFundMe account and coffee mornings held in the University of Galway will be used to make sure that Santa does not forget these children.
The children in the Refuge will be asked to write their letters to Santa and we will make sure those letters and the children’s dreams for Christmas reach Santa on time. We will make sure Santa knows where they are staying and ensure that their presents arrive to the shelter by Christmas Eve, so no child will be forgotten.
Since 2014 this project has been organised and has been ran successfully by staff in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, UCFRC Family Support and Medicine, in the University of Galway, Ireland, in partnership with staff at COPE Galway's Women's Refuge. We have heard wonderful stories of joy on Christmas morning and we hope that this year will be just as heart-warming for the children.
The Refuge is now based at Modh Eile House, Forster street, Galway (formerly called Waterside House).
