Cawo, a medical student at Camuud University, has been in a comma for the past 20 days after she was brutally raped and tortured by a man she refused to marry.
Cawo's family lived in Burco and her University is in Borama. Therefore, a friend of her father hosted her to continue her education at Camuud. A relative of the host family started stalking and harassing Cawo. One night, the perpetrator came into her room with a knife and brutally stabbed and raped Cawo more than 10 times.
Cawo is fighting for her life in a hospital in Hargeisa. She is in need of medical support outside of Somaliland.
We are fundraising to support Cawo's family so they can seek the appropriate medical attention.
