Please join us in our efforts to protect the beautiful William Bartram Scenic & Historic Highway (State Road 13) from unnecessary further development.

We’re fundraising to hire a local attorney to represent the William Bartram Scenic & Historic Management Group in its efforts to save the State Road 13 corridor and it's beauty.  We are an approved 501 (C)(3) charitable organization.

The William Bartram Scenic and Historic Highway, in Northwest St. Johns County, is a two lane state road running parallel to the beautiful St. Johns River and widely recognized for its magnificent tree canopy and scenic views in Northwest St. Johns County.  Visit our website at: www.bartramscenichighway.com

A major developer now proposes building a new community of 1219 Single family homes that will forever change the character of the Scenic Highway.  This developer is presently building several large developments in this general area.  One development (Silverleaf) is a massive development of more than 10,000 homes and a very large commercial area.

The proposed development is in an area surrounded by other large residential developments and will negatively impact three (3) already congested two lane highways.   Developers have already developed smaller residential communities in the area and have created congested roads that have virtually eliminated any chance residents can evacuate safely in the event of hurricanes or other natural disasters.

Our County Commissioner regularly approves new developments regardless of the negative impacts of increased vehicular traffic on two lane roads.  Residents and travelers on this scenic corridor, adjacent to the magnificent St. Johns River, have major concerns about safety and longer traffic delays.

Historically, St. Johns County has been a quiet, peaceful, rural community that has, in recent years, experienced enormous population growth.  Our "A" rated school district, excellent quality of life, and the rapid job growth in the City of Jacksonville created this demand for new home construction and population growth.

Any donation, large or small, will be appreciated and will have an impact in our efforts to save our scenic and historic venues from the potential widening of the roadway and the destruction of our magnificent tree canopy and other scenic and historic areas.

Thank you for your contribution to this cause that means so much to the many residents and travelers using this scenic roadway.
