Liam was a normal healthy 2 year old boy. Always energetic and always had a smile on his face. He is a character and can always make you laugh. A few weeks ago he started to not act like himself. We thought he just had a cold or something but as the weeks went on he was getting worse. He was lethargic, very pale, didn't want to move, didn't want to eat, just seemed like he was in pain. So we took him to the ER where they stated he was very pale and that his blood count was extremely low. Well that made both mine and his dad's heart just sink. They did some blood tests and found that the leading diagnosis was in fact leukemia. LEUKEMIA.....something you never want to hear your child has. Very scary feeling. After being overwhelmed with that they found it to be Pro B ALL leukemia which is the most common type and the easiest to treat. Thank God! After many blood infusions and platelet infusions they got him into surgery to get a bone marrow done, put a port in and than a spinal tap. He is now getting back to himself and his personality but just knowing that this is only the beginning makes it tough. He will have 3 years of ongoing treatment but the first month he will have to be at children's hospital at least twice a week to do the chemo and blood tests. Making it hard for mom and dad cause now they have to miss work and we live outside of the range of the hospital. They want us to stay closer. We know that he is in the best of hands at Children's Hospital and is getting the best treatment. You never think that something like this can happen to your own child but it does. It may not be fair but it's the hand we or they got dealt and as long as they are strong to fight through it, they will be ok. All I have to say is Liam has been a trooper through all of this and has been so brave and strong. I thank and pray to God every day that everything will turn out ok and that my little boy will be stronger than ever! He will beat this!
