Wizard & Typhoon's Homecoming

I'm Dave Reynolds. I've started this fundraiser for a group called The Friends of The Wizard and The Typhoon of which I am group secretary - a history group based in Shildon, Co Durham who have spent the last year researching the lives and music of the New Shildon born band composers George Allan and Thomas Edward Bulch. You wouldn't believe how fantastic a story it's turned out to be, and musically these two gentlemen provide a great deal for both Shildon, and County Durham to be proud of: and that's not to mention all those folk in Australia and England that can trace their banding and line of music tuition back to this corner of England. Both Thomas Edward Bulch's and George Allan's music was played around the world during their lifetime. Some of it is still today, though much of it has been buried under generations of newer music. But when you hear it, it's great, and shouldn't be forgotten.
The intention now is to try to bring that to life in grand style, this year. We'll involve a top band to play the music as it should be heard, we'll also look to use actors to bring the story to life and show you some of the high's, lows and fantastic coincidences that make this global story so incredible and memorable. This way we can share it in a way that can be kept and so so that everyone can enjoy, and make sure it's there for everyone for the future too.
To do that we're looking at getting the project funded by funding sponsors - but of course, we also need to look closer to home too. What we're planning has the potential to be something exciting and different for our area and which can be revisited as often as needed. We're also trying to involve the local schools to involve our young people.
