The Witherspoon-Jackson Neighborhood Welcome Weekend
May 18 and 19, 2019
The Witherspoon-Jackson (WJ) neighborhood is the 20th historic district in the distinctive town of Princeton, NJ. WJ is the most racially, culturally, socially, and economically diverse neighborhood in Princeton and it faces the challenges market pressures present to sustaining its diversity and quality of life.
The Welcome Weekend will place on full display, the neighborhood’s warm and welcoming spirit and extend it to all in the Princeton community.
The Welcome Weekend will include yard clean ups, spring house cleaning pick ups, a barbecue, an unveiling of historic building plaques, a ceremonial tree planting, yard sales, a presentation of a proposed neighborhood fence improvement project, tours, flowers for neighborhood residences, music, games, and more!
The Welcome Weekend Committee is raising money to help fund costs for goods, services, and expenses not donated as in-kind contributions.
Funding is needed for...
1) a SurveyMonkey subscription to engage volunteers and compile a list of neighbors who need spring clean up and spruce up help;
2) the printing of multi-language welcome posters for the windows of all 400 homes;
3) the production of locational and event information signs and banners; and
4) miscellaneous permits and fees.
The Welcome Weekend Committee is made up of volunteers and local organizations, including our local Habitat for Humanity. The event is co-sponsored by the WJ Neighborhood Association, the WJ Historic and Cultural Society, and the WJ Development Corporation.
