My name is Wendy Kheiry, and I wrote the short story Witchified : Cesily's Grand Opening which is a story about a young shopkeeper whose bumpy magical transformation causes her to levitate when anxious or excited among other side effects. On Opening Day, everything begins to go wrong when her advertisement doesn't make it into the local news sheets, and she can't find her cat, Melvin. Set in a fantastic alternative world, Cesily's customers show their respect by trying to cheat her, and turn out in their corsets and long tail coats to shop in her store, Herborium Works: Rare Spells and Incantaion Supplies.
Cesily raises a sky advertisement to let Cavendeshlem, the hamlet where her store is located, to draw customers to the shop, but a governent man shows up to charge her a fine she can't quite pay.
The sequel to Cesily's Grand Opening is Witchified: Melvin's Dragon, and the rough draft is almost finished. Cesily's Grand Opening was so well received by the young readers who gave me feedback that when the ideas for the sequel began to arrive I had to begin to write them down. While the target audience ranges from ages 9-12, the adult readers were also quite enamored with Cesily, her cat, and the Witchified World.
Becoming a published author has been a dream of mine since I wrote my first story, called the Last Snowflake, which won an award in First Grade. I dropped out of college to write, but then started a family and lived adventures of my own here in the Midwest, in Saudi Arabia, in Vermont, Ohio, and Wisconsin. I have notebooks full of untold stories waiting their turn, and this story is a stepping stone on the path to fulfilling that dream.
Your donation will go to directly support the finishing of Witchified: Melvin's Dragon, which begin when Cesily hear's Melvin crying someplace in her house. She searches everywhere until she finally looks under the couch to find, not Melvin, but a baby dragon with a claw stuck up in the webbing which begins a whole new adventrure for Cesily, the customers at Herborium Works, and Cesily's friends.
Thank you so much for supporting the writing, for reading Witchified: Cesily's Grand Opening, for believing my writing has a place in this world, and for supporting me, a dreamer and a poet. Thank you for helping this dream come true.
